Shimaneko Cafe

One healing spot opened in Nago in 2016. It is a cat cafe named "Shimaneko Cafe". There, you can enjoy not only playing with cats but also eating sweets and drinking while watching them. Shimaneko Cafe is located in Okita, Nago. It takes 5 minutes to arrive the Shimaneko Cafe. It's open from 11:00 to 17:00, Tuesday thru Saturday. By the way, the music group HY came there and they were also healed by cute cats. The shop staff always welcome you with a kind smile.

The origin of Shimaneko café

Shimaneko café has been open since September 2016. Shimaneko, Inc. runs this café. This café is my favorite, so I have been there several times. When I visited there for an interview, I saw the CEO of this company for the first time. Her name is Akiko Gondai. I was surprised because I have seen her many times at the café. She works as a member of the staff, usually. I got the impression that this company is friendly and the people respect each other. In Shimaneko café, a lot of handicapped people work there. They have different handicaps like mental handicaps or physical handicaps. Akiko Gondai says, “I hope I can contribute to promote societies in which those people are able to work usually just like a person with a healthy body does.” All the staff are polite and honest with a nice smile. What is more, there is a staff member who has studied abroad before, so you can find a bilingual menu. Shimaneko café is a friendly place for everyone!

Delicious Menu

They have various menu items. And all of them are less than 1000 yen. It will cost at least 700 yen (juice: 400 yen, admission fee into the cat room: 300 yen). There are pancakes, cheesecake, pasta and pizza and a drink menu. We ordered pancakes, cheesecake and pasta. It was so tasty and looks nice! You can enjoy a photogenic meal at Shimaneko café.

Cute cats

There are 9 cats there: Gaziro, Nami, Bibi, Robin, Syrupy, Franky, Carina and Ace. They came from the Animal Welfare Management Center. They have some experience being thrown away. Their names come from ONE PIECE, a Japanese manga. The owner hopes disabled people and abandoned cats, who are both considered socially vulnerable, are going to help each other as comrades.

Also, each cat has special skills and all the cats are very friendly and free. Some cats are sleeping, others run around and so on. We recommend it for anyone who is exhausted from daily life, who needs a slow time and of course who likes animals. 9 cats would make us heal.
